Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 500 to 200 BCE; Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Early to Late Classic Period, ca. 250 to 900 CE. A collection of approximately 100 beautiful hand carved stone and shell beads strung on 2 separate strands. Most are greenstones with lovely mottled pale green and white hues, but a few tested as jadeite! Shapes range from tubular barrels, rounded spheres, discoidal, and lightly polished nuggets - all with drilled suspension holes. These beads are perfect of jewelry makers to restring as wearable pieces or to use as accent beads and pendants. Size (largest strand doubled): 24" L (61 cm); (largest barrel bead): 1.5" L x 0.6" W (3.8 cm x 1.5 cm)
