AN INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTING OF A RULER
India, early 19th century. Watercolors, gouache and gold on paper. Standing on a terrace with both hands resting at the waist, dressed in a white kurta and yellow scarf with gold details, richly adorned in beaded jewelry, a nimbus around his head, framed with a red border, the reverse inscribed in Devanagari.

Provenance: German private collection, acquired from a Munich art dealer. The backside inscribed with a note 'Sumbat 1873' and 'Painted in 1811 A.D.' With another support pad with a German note 'Indian original from Bikanir [sic!], bought in 1907' and 'acquired 12/1974 Stuttgard'
Condition: Good condition, minor wear, traces of soiling, some creases, former tears and touch-ups.
