A GANDHARAN SCHIST FIGURE OF A YOUTHFUL BODHISATTVA
Ancient region of Gandhara, Kushan period, 2nd - 3rd century. Standing in an elegant pose, wearing a long, flowing robe, and adorned in beaded jewelry. The serene face with heavy-lidded eyes and full lips below neatly incised wavy hair surmounted by a headdress. Mounted to a recent base.
Condition: Good condition commensurate with age, with wear, notches, erosion, small repairs and losses.
Provenance: From a private collection in Belgium, according to the previous owner acquired c. 1991 - 1994 in the American trade.
