Description
"Cassandre originally created this atmospheric image for the Venice Graphic Design Conference in 1951. While they continued to use it for many years, the Italian Tourist Bureau also found it particularly appealing, appropriating it with this text as the official destination poster for Venice. A.M. Cassandre is one of the most influential poster artists of the mid-twentieth century. His work mixes elements of art deco, cubism and surrealism. Cassandre established his own advertising agency, Alliance Graphique. Along with his innovative art style, Cassandre also developed several typefaces for use in his advertising. In 1936, his posters were exhibited by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His most notable work advertises the ocean liner Normandie. This is an Original Vintage Poster. It is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters."
