Description
An antique oversized engraved on paper portrait of George Washington after the famous 1796 painting by Gilbert Stuart. Features a decorated border designed by W. Momberger. The four corner vignettes depict Washingtons most significant military battles and victories of the Revolutionary War: Trenton, Princeton, Valley Forge, and Cornwalliss surrender at Yorktown. Dated 1866. The other hand colored engraving entitled General George Washington saying farewell to his officers after the Revolution at Fraunces Tavern New York City. From the painting by Alonzo Chappel, engraved by Phillibrown, circa 1866.
Dimensions: Large 23 x 18 in. Small 8 x 10 in. All measurements are approximate.
Condition
Overall good vintage condition. Signs of age and wear. Yellowing, scuffs, damage at edges and corners. Refer to photos. Sold As Is.
