Description
Canadian. 1940s. Double sided painted metal. Purportedly from Marwood M. Ashton's "Streamline" Petroleum station in St. Thomas, Ontario. Little is known surrounding the history of the Red Rose Gasoline brand. It is thought that a disgruntled executive from Canadian Oil Companies Ltd. started a small chain of stations in Ontario to compete with their White Rose branded stations. Each side exhibits uniform oxidation, fade and moderate losses from the script. Moderate to heavy uniform surface oxidation, one side is heavier than the other. Condition: 6.75, 6.25. From the Joe Byway Collection. 4' diameter.
