A pair of George III mahogany globe stands, A pair of George III mahogany globe stands, c.1790, each with a semi-hemispherical cradle raised on a turned and acanthus-carved column support and tripod base, terminating in dolphin-carved feet, each with traces of original papers, 44cm diameter 66cm high aperture 32cm (2) Provenance: The Gordon Gridley Collection, London. Condition Report: Both with knocks, dents, scratches and chips, small losses to the high relief carving on the feet. Loss to veneer on edges of globe holders, papers to top fragmentary, structurally sound.
