CÔTE D'IVOIRE / IVORY COAST
Cuillère « wakemia » Dan, République de Côte d’Ivoire
Bois à patine brun foncé noire, métal blanc
Hauteur : 38cm / 15"
Le long cuilleron biseauté en partie haute, est prolongé par un cou annelé formant le manche de l’objet. Au sommet, la tête est coiffée de nattes ramenées sur le crâne, les traits du visage soignés, la bouche entrouverte sur une rangée de petites dents de métal. Les oreilles, percées, ont été ornées de pendeloques.
Sculptée en l’honneur d’une « wunkirle », femme connue dans sa communauté pour ses qualités hospitalières, cette cuillère « wakemia » était brandie lors des fêtes de village en signe de reconnaissance.
Belle laque d’un noir profond patinée par l’usage.
Un socle de présentation sur mesure sera inclus avec le lot.

CÔTE D'IVOIRE / IVORY COAST
Spoon " wakemia " Dan, Republic of Côte d'Ivoire
Wood with dark brown patina, white metal
Height: 38cm / 15"
The long spoon, beveled at the top, is extended by a ringed neck forming the handle of the object. At the top, the head is covered with braids brought back on the skull, the facial features are neat, the mouth half-open on a row of small metal teeth. The pierced ears have been decorated with pendants.
Carved in honor of a "wunkirle", a woman known in her community for her hospitable qualities, this "wakemia" spoon was brandished at village festivals as a sign of recognition.
Beautiful deep black lacquer with a patina from use.
A custom-made display stand will be included with the lot.
