Peru, Chancay Pottery Duck Vessel c.1100-1300 AD. Size 7 inches length, 5 3/4 inches high.. Fine pottery vessel in Duck form with handle and spout. Provenance: Private Washington DC collection of Thomas F Caroll. Thomas worked from the 1950s through the 1980s in International development organizations and lived in Rome and Chile as well as Washington. Donated about 400 Pre-Columbian artifacts to the Cornell University Johnson Museum of Art which he acquired during his early years in his career, Collected numerous items in the countries where he was working. Published catalog by Johnson Museum at Cornell University included a number of loaned pieces as well as his donation in its 2008 exhibit.
