Ancient Pre Columbian Costa Rica Tripod Vessel c.400-700 AD. Size 6 3/4 inches high + mount. Tripod pottery vessel with Monkey on each leg. Provenance: Private Washington DC collection of Thomas F Caroll. Acquired from Osmane, dealer NY. Thomas worked from the 1950s through the 1980s in International development organizations and lived in Rome and Chile as well as Washington. Donated about 400 Pre-Columbian artifacts to the Cornell University Johnson Museum of Art which he acquired during his early years in his career, Collected numerous items in the countries where he was working. Published catalog by Johnson Museum at Cornell University included a number of loaned pieces as well as his donation in its 2008 exhibit.
