Description
Designed by Karl Muller and cast iron face done by Nicholas Muller, it features Alexander Cartwright (Father Of Baseball), Henry Chadwick (The Most Famous Sports Writer Of The 19th Century).The two standing figures Bob Ferguson, outfielder and manager of the Brooklyn Atlantics, and Bobby Mathews, pitcher of the New York Mutuals. The children at top are thought to represent the future of the game. The clocks were featured in the 1876 catalog of the American Clock Company. This clock has a Seth Thomas Inner Mechanism, measures 16" high x 13" wide x 4" deep, Includes Pendulum (Not Attached) & Two Keys, Some Areas Of Piece Are Rubbed and Missing Finish. Clock was lighty wound by owner and ran when tested. It is very rare with only several sold at auction, and per one source, less than 10 examples known. Minimal wear to patina of cast iron.
