c. 1863 Civil War Era, Surgical Field Type Amputation Saw, Brass handle and frame, Choice Very Fine.
This Civil War Era Surgical Field Saw measures about 2.5" tall x 11" long, having a brass handle, frame and steel blade. Maker's mark of a small Star is engraved between handle grips. Actual signs of use having wear of its finish within the handle and some natural oxidation on blade.
