**First Time At Auction**
Europe, Italy, Venice, found in Western Africa, ca. early 19th century CE. A set of 2 wearable necklaces, each strung with dozens of glass millefiori beads in primarily yellow or red hues. The first necklace features russet-hued beads adorned with petite cane mosaic flowers enclosed by rings of yellow glass, and the second necklace features yellow beads with various types and shapes of polychrome flowers. Trade beads played a major role in the age of European exploration and colonization, serving as currency on multiple continents. Size (yellow necklace): 31.5" L (80 cm); (largest bead): 0.53" W x 0.43" H (1.3 cm x 1.1 cm)
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition
Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Chips and abrasions to some beads, otherwise most are intact and very good. Great retention of bead coloration.
