Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A charming flared cup with a small, round foot, cast from bronze and with thin walls, giving it an elegant, delicate appearance. It fits neatly into the hand and has a pleasing weight. On one side, just below the rim, is a series of three small characters - two repeated, then one slightly larger. They are probably a mark of ownership. Size: 2.15" W x 3.7" H (5.5 cm x 9.4 cm)
Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010

Condition
Tiny loss from edge of rim. Otherwise in nice condition with slight bending to form and light encrustation, mainly in interior. Smooth green patina on surface.
