**First Time At Auction**
Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 320 BCE. A group of wheel-thrown pottery artifacts including the body of a lekanis, a mug called a kotyle, and 2 lids. The basins of the lekanis and kotyle are glazed with red pigment, and both have parabolic handles at their sides; the lower body of the kotyle is adorned with dense vertical lines. The lekanis lid has a knob-shaped handle and is adorned with 2 images of the elegant "Lady of Fashion," and the other lid is dome-shaped with a concave handle and swirling black embellishments on top. Size of largest (kotyle): 5.7" W x 3.125" H (14.5 cm x 7.9 cm)
Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010

Condition
Kotyle has restoration to one handle and repair to 1 terminal of the other handle; domed lid repaired with light adhesive residue; and lekanis has chips to foot and rim; lekanis lid is intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
