Il Frontespizio del tomo III reca l’indicazione “Seconde partie du tome second, faisant le Tome troisieme”. In totale 3 Tavole incise in rame fuori testo. Segni di usura alle legature, restauro al primo Frontespizio con rinforzo di carta al verso, tracce d’uso, esemplare genuino. Il primo tomo riguarda i movimenti fanatici che ebbero largo seguito nelle province di Dauphine e Vivarais nel XVII secolo, con i particolari le loro stravaganze, le illusioni delle loro profezie, i danni causati dal loro passaggio ... Gli altri tomi trattano della guerra dei Camisardi negli anni 1703-05 nelle Cevennes. David-Augustin de Brueys, avvocato e teologo protestante convertito al cattolicesimo da Bossuet, espone qui il punto di vista cattolico sulla rivolta dei Camisards, in un’opera che rimane una fonte importante per lo studio di questo travagliato periodo della storia francese. La planche ‘Fanatiques’ illustra le stravaganze dei fanatici.

Vol. 1, frontispiece with author's portrait, pp. XVI including halftitle and titlepage, LXXVIII, a plate ‘Fanatiques’, 386; Vol 2, pp. (4),410, a plate o.t. after p. 122; Vol. 3, pp. (2), 411-640, cxxxvj. The titlepage of the third volume presents the indication: “Seconde partie du tome second, faisant le Tome troisieme”. A total of 3 engraved plates o.t. Sign of wear on bindings, restoration on first titlepage with reinforcement on verso, traces of wear. Unsophisticated copy.
The first tome concerns the fanatical movements that had a large following in the provinces of Dauphine and Vivarais in the seventeenth century, with the details of their extravagances, the illusions of their prophecies, the damage caused by their passage ... The other tomes deal with the war of the Camisardi in the years 1703-05 in the Cevennes. David-Augustin de Brueys, a Protestant lawyer and theologian converted to Catholicism by Bossuet, exposes here the Catholic point of view on the Camisards revolt, in a work that remains an important source for the study of this troubled period of French history. The plate 'Fanatiques' illustrates the extravagances of fanatics.
