On 21 October 1967, Marc Riboud photographed 17-year-old High school student Jan Rose Kasmir as she took part in a demonstration against the Vietnam War in Washington DC. She holds a chrysanthemum and confronts national guardsmen with bayonets on their rifles. After the publication of the photograph under the title “The Ultimate Confrontation: The Flower and the Bayonet” in Look magazine on 30 December 1969, it became a symbol of the flower power movement. Am 21. Oktober 1967 fotografierte Marc Riboud die 17-jährige Schülerin Jan Rose Kasmir, als sie in Washington an einer Groß-Demonstration gegen den Vietnamkrieg teilnahm. Sie hält eine Chrysantheme und stellt sich Soldaten der Nationalgarde mit Bajonett-Gewehren entgegen. Nach der Publikation der Aufnahme unter dem Titel “The Ultimate Confrontation: The Flower and the Bayonet” in der Zeitschrift Look vom 30. Dezember 1969 wurde sie zu einem Symbol der Flower-Power-Bewegung.
