Songye Kifwebe Mask, Democratic Republic of the Congo, hollowed-out, tapering form, pierced around the edge for attachments, with a long, square protruding mouth beneath a triangular nose, with hair coming from the nostrils, and wide, slit-like eyes, with a thin, high crest from the forehead to crown, the whole decorated with bands of alternating white and browns, the ridgeline, nose, mouth, and eyes in black, with custom wood stand, (wood damage and minor pigment loss), ht. 23, wd. 7 1/4 in.
