Early George II carved mahogany armchair, with tapestry upholstered seat. Chair engraved with "Jacobus Gibbs / Architectus / 1736". James Gibbs (Brit. 1682-1754) architect responsible for Church of St. Mary Lestrand and rebuilding of St. Martin in the Fields. [38" H x 26 1/2" W x 21" D]. Original condition, some shrinkage.
