Impressionist depiction of a farming family traversing down a dirt path and across a wood bridge in the early morning. Phelps studied in Munich and Paris studying the principals landscape painting of Pelouse and Guillemette. In 1878, Phelps exhibited at the National Academy of Design. His works are part of the Lowell Historical Society and the Whistler House Museum of Art.
