Description
A miniature Wedgwood glazed creamware bust of Homer, molded with a circular socle and mounted on a square black basalt plinth. Homer is listed in the original group of busts purchased by Josiah I in 1774 from cast supplier John Cheere. The bust is glazed creamware on a glazed terracotta socle attached to an early custom made ovolo-moulded black basalt plinth with original 18th century hardware. The bust is permanently affixed to the plinth. Impressed Wedgwood mark on basalt plinth, with three large firing holes.
Very Good. Some rubbing and very small (less than 1/16 in) chipping to hair and area near right shoulder.
