Item Details
Description
Northeastern Europe, Russia, Migration Period, Finno-Ugric / Proto-Viking / Viking Rus, ca. 5th to 8th century CE. A fine group of 24 leaded-bronze beads or pendants of similar form: a cast, coiled and threaded rod-shaped body studded with spherical or open work balls at regular intervals. Most have integral suspension loops on one tip. The largest has a bulbous open work tip and one is surmounted by a bird shaped finial. All are made from a high-tin copper alloy common to this region and time that gives their green patina a lustrous shine.
