Description
Two Russian Avant garde watercolor and pencil on paper costume designs for the ballet Le Choute, attributed to Mikhail Larionov, Russian, Soviet, French, 1881 to 1964. The left drawing is signed and dated 1915 upper left, the right sket is signed, titled and dated 1921 lower right. Housed in a thin metal frame, not examined out of frame. Mikhail Larionov was a painter, graphic artist, book illustrator, theater artist. Studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, 1898–1910, intermittently, under A. E. Arkhipov, V. A. Serov and K. A. Korovin. Initiator of the opening of the first exhibition Bubnovy Valet or Jack of Diamonds, 1910, exhibitions Osliny Khvost or Donkey's Tail, 1912, Mishen' or Target, 1913, Futurists, Luchists, Primitives, 1914. The creator of the theory of Luchism - one of the first experiments in non-objective art. One of the leading artists of S. P. Diaghilev's entreprise. From 1919 he lived permanently in Paris.
