United States, ca. 19th century CE. A fun antique! This folding game set is constructed from paper, wood, and cardboard, and resembles a pair of large books when folded up! The outer cover portion is red and black and serves as the checkerboard. The inside presents a backgammon board and contains the playing pieces. Also included is a thin playing board with backgammon and checkers printed on both sides as well. The outer binding has marbled paper and the title "Evening Pastimes Vol. I II Vol. III". Included are wooden playing chips and yellow and red dice. Size of board when closed: 9.125" L x 2.5" W x 17.125" H (23.2 cm x 6.4 cm x 43.5 cm); opened: 18.375" L x 1.25" W x 17.125" H (46.7 cm x 3.2 cm x 43.5 cm)
