Description
In northern GA, there was to the best of our knowledge, no salt glaze firing after the pottery shop Kline closed in the early 20th century. But when potter Clint Alderman decided to move back to his childhood area from Hartwell, he had to move his kiln. This gave him the unique opportunity to basically turn his existing alkaline into salt glazing with the lasgt firing in Sept 2009. After rebuilding the kiln in Clarksville/Demorest, he found that was having issues (so he salt-glazed fired that too before rebuilding it). The 2009 firing indeed was a phenomenal evening & created a set of beautiful pots that rarely come to market. In the pitcher, he cobalt decorated the salt glaze w/ 2 incised matching quails/pheasants & additional floral aspects. Stands 8.5" by 7". Signed Hartwell Last Firing Salt Glaze & Clint (not specifically dated).
