Item Details

Description

This is rare bird as they say (or face jug). Harry (b1912-d?) was the father of the late potter Richard & grandfather of retired potter Jamie. Harry definitely turned face jugs, but are very uncommon and one of the must haves of the Catawba Valley face jug collector. This is one of finest examples of Harry's faces we have ever seen. Harry's faces are wonderful folksy (e.g. the jug lip is not 'perfect' which makes more desirable) and done in the classic wood-fire style. The face stands 10.5" by 8". Signed by Harry on base Bandys XRoads, NC & dated 10-27-91.

Condition

Basically mint with one eye socket having a short insignificant firing line.
