Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fierce amulet, painstakingly carved from cow bone, featuring the head of a man with deepset eyes that stare out at the viewer, a strong nose, deep lines on the forehead, and a wild countenance surrounded by curled beard and hair.
