Herman Wouk Two Typed Letters Signed Re: Novel Youngblood Hawke, 1967
A pair of typed letters signed by author Herman Wouk, both addressed to Arie Hashavia. Both letters have flattened mail folds with toning at the edges and folds. Light wear to edges and spots of soiling throughout. Both are boldly signed.
The first, 1p, measuring 7.25" x 10.5", dated April 24, 1967, is signed "HWouk" along with an illegible note in Wouk's hand. Wouk mentions having received a translated volume of the Hebrew "Youngblood Hawke", stating "I'm much happier about this matter now."
The second letter, 1p, measuring 7.25" x 9", dated May 16, 1967, is signed "Herman Wouk." An Air Mail letter in which Wouk thanks Hasavia for sending him an article, writing "It is a tasteful piece, and I appreciate its tone and contents. Here's hoping we'll meet again in Israel."
Herman Wouk (1915-2019) was an American historical fiction author best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Caine Mutiny", along with "The Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance" about WWII. Wouk also wrote non-fiction concerning modern Judaism. Some have described Wouk as an American Tolstoy.
