Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely necklace of wearable form strung with dozens of petite white marine shells and 8 obsidian disc beads. The top of the necklace is adorned with an orange-pink Spondylus shell tube while the bottom bears 2 white shell tubes, and suspended from the center is a slender obsidian blade-form pendant. A lovely contrast between black and white! Size (necklace): 28.375" L (72.1 cm); (obsidian pendant): 0.36" W x 2.07" H (0.9 cm x 5.3 cm)

Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Shell and obsidian beads are ancient; stringing is modern. Nicks and light encrustations to some beads, with small chips to obsidian pendant commensurate with knapping process, otherwise intact and very good. Nice bead coloration.
