Late Period, Ca. 664-332 BC A vibrant blue faience amulet of Thoth, depicted with a human body and the head of an ibis, in a striding position, his left foot forward, his arms held to his sides. He is wearing a short pleated kilt. On an integral base, with a back pillar pierced for suspension. For similar see: W. M. Flinders Petrie, Amulets, Illustrated by the Egyptian Collection in University College, London (London, Constable, 1914). Size: L:36mm / W:7.5mm ; 3g Provenance: From a London private family collection, formerly acquired on the UK art market in the 1960s - 1970s; then passed by descent.
