Description
FRENCH 0.800 SILVER SEWING NEEDLE / BODKIN CASES, LOT OF THREE, each with repousse/relief design, comprising an Egyptian-style needle case with gold-washed finish featuring lotus flower accents, a gilt needle/bodkin case with chinoiserie design featuring figure playing instrument, a vase, and bells, and a needle case with flower decoration holding a bodkin having scrolled decoration. Each case impressed twice with a boar's head hallmark for 0.800 silver fineness having a worn or partially illegible maker's mark, bodkin unmarked. Total weight excluding bodkin: 0.585 ozt. Each retains collection number sticker and detailed collection card. Second half 19th/early 20th century. Cases 2 1/2" to 3 5/8" L.
