DESCRIPTION: Attrib. Georges Rouault (French, 1871-1958) Silk and wool tapestry titled: "Pierrot with a Rose" dated and signed at lower right, mounted in ornate carved wood frame. Note: The original paintings resides at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The painting was made as a full-scale model for the tapestry, woven by weavers under the supervision of Marie Cuttoli, French (1879-1973). Designs are reversed when translated for a loom. A similar tapestry, designed by Rouault is in the Barnes Museum in Philadelphia.
