Item Details

Description

Case found with hidden ambrotype of young African American man turned backwards within frame and covered with a tintype of a young white girl in calico dress. Ambrotype of the young man appears original to the embossed leather case. Dark but clear image of the young man the stick pin in his striped cravat and the ring on his left pinkie are highlighted with gold. We've turned the ambrotype the right way around, his image no longer hidden, and include the tintype as well.
