Item/Description: Watercolor and gouache painting features a couple in period clothing. Signed lower right. Written on back: Yuri A. Kokoyanin / "Date" / W/C / 22.5 x 18 cm / 1981.
Russian-American artist Yuri Kokoyanin (1948-), now of Alexandria Virginia was born in St. Petersburg, Russia (formerly Leningrad)in 1948, and before immigrating to the U.S. in the late 1970s, was a well-known avant-garde artist in Russia. He is now represented in the United States by the Von Braher Gallery in Alexandria, Virginia. He has exhibited worldwide, including at the Galerie Blue Square, Paris (2012), the 16th Annual Exhibition of Arts and Culture, Ponte de Sor, Portugal (2009), Galeria 111, Lisboa, Portugal (1995); and at Venable Neslage Galleries, Washington, DC. His work is in the permananet collection of the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC.
