Fine content A.L.S. as Vice President with integral holograph address leaf also franked, 1p. legal folio, Washington, Apr. 7, 1810, to Mathias B. Tallmadge in New York. In part: '…The Senate have this day concurred in a Resolution sent up by the House of Representatives to adjourn on the 23rd Instant…I shall quit the Chair some Days previous to that Time. I do consider this as the most unprofitable Session I have ever known. We have and shall do little of any Thing of National Importance…' Seal tear from wax seal affects three words, large chips and a short tear into blank area of cover, mounting residue on verso, else very good. Matthias Burnett Tallmadge (1774–1819) was a member of the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate and a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New York and the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.
