Description
Scarce U.S. Army recruitment poster from the World War II era, 22 x 28 in., 1941, color, printed by the U.S. Army Recruiting Service, featuring a patriotic image in blues, yellows, reds, and browns of the American home front during the war. Included are a farmer, a steel worker, a scientist, a nurse, a soldier, a pilot, factories and the nation's capital. Accompanying the image at the bottom left is a patriotic poem by Jack Childs. The individual components of the design unite to form an image of the bust of Uncle Sam, which is visible, like a specter, over the whole scene. Light toning and stains to the top, a few small tears around the margins, else very good.
