Group of 3 World War II recruitment posters. 1930s-40s. Including: So Proudly We Serve / Only 100,000 May Serve as Marines. 40 x 28”. Edgewear, marginal tears and creases, creases in image, some yellow offsetting on verso. -- WOODBURN, Tom. U.S. Army / Guardian of the Colors. 38 x 25”. Original folds, several tape repairs, several marginal tears, some edgewear, scattered soiling. -- MURPHEY, Matt (1898-1943). Salvo! 1939. U.S. Navy recruiting poster depicting battleship firing all guns, above a slogan reading: “Speed, accuracy and concentration are required of EVERY MEMBER of a battleship crew when guns are fired.” The artist, a noted naval artist, perished when the transport ship he was traveling in was torpedoed in the Atlantic. 40 x 28”. Unbacked. Fold lines, three-inch sealed tear at top margin and some edge wear. All unbacked. Condition varies; generally B/C+.
