Description
(1916-1982) Stuka dive-bomber pilot during World War II, the most highly decorated German serviceman of the war, receiving a Knights Cross with Golden Oak Leaves Swords and Diamonds. Escaped to South America after the war. T.L.S. on personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Stimmersee, March 10, 1977, to 'Mr. Deschler' of the famous medals firm regarding a medal. In full: 'I agree to the medal and the black and white red ribbon. When it is ready, please leave 2-3 pieces to me. I am currently down with severe phlebitis, but then went to America for a long time...' Boldly signed at the conclusion in blue ink. File holes to the left margin, staple holes at upper-left, some light spots of staining. Still very good condition. Of course, this leaves open the possibility that Rudel was selling the medals as his 'original' Iron Crosses!
