1876 AMERICANA 1ed Centennial Exposition American History Inventions Illustrated
In honor of the centennial celebration of the United States, hundreds of authors and publishers produced books that highlighted various aspects of America. The Centennial Exposition boasted industrial exhibits from 37 nations displayed in 250 pavilions. It was the first official Worlds Fair in the United States and gave the nation an important opportunity to display its progress to the world.
J.S. Ingrams account of the Exposition describes the ceremonies, parks and buildings, exhibits, inventions, displays, and much more. Notable displays included: local and international tobacco, pottery, sewing machines, and relics from Arctic voyages.
This 1876 edition includes 182 impressive illustrations throughout.

Arms adopted by the Preston family of Beeston St. Lawrence, Norfolk. While unclear to which family member this particular coat of arms belongs, the family line includes Sir Henry Jacob Preston, 3rd Baronet (1851–1897), an English soldier, magistrate and footballer. He represented England in the second representative football match against Scotland in November 1870.
