In honor of the centennial celebration of the United States, hundreds of authors and publishers produced books that highlighted various aspects of America. The Centennial Exposition boasted industrial exhibits from 37 nations displayed in 250 pavilions. It was the first official World's Fair in the United States and gave the nation an important opportunity to display its progress to the world.
J.S. Ingram’s account of the Exposition describes the ceremonies, parks and buildings, exhibits, inventions, displays, and much more. Notable displays included: local and international tobacco, pottery, sewing machines, and relics from Arctic voyages.
