Item Details
Description
Ancient Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana Archaeological Complex (BMAC) / Bactrian, ca. 3000 to 2000 BCE; Ancient Near East, ca. 4th millennium to 6th century BCE; Western Asia, probably made in Khorasan, eastern Persian (Iran) and western Afghanistan, Seljuk (Seljuq) period, ca. 12th to 13th century CE; Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Huari (Wari) culture, ca. 700 to 1000 CE; South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A wonderful ensemble of ten pottery vessels. One jar from Bactria-Margiana with a round base, a voluminous body, a long neck, and a pair of loop handles. Another vessel from the Ancient Near East exhibits a round base, a spherical body, a flared rim, and two loop handles flanking its sloped shoulder. Three Persian vessels; two displaying discoid feet, shallow basins, and beige, orange, and black paint and one featuring a round base, a squat body, and a flared neck. Then two Huari vessels that each showcase a round base, a bulbous body, and a tapered neck. Though both are embellished with paints, one Huari vessel has a visage depicted in its neck opposite its handle. Size of largest: 8.25" in diameter x 10.75" H (21 cm x 27.3 cm)

The last two are from Nazca culture. Both sitting upon round bases, one has a huge flared neck and an annular rim, while the other has thick walls that span to a circular rim over a shallow basin.
