Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A personal ceremonial steel, brass, and wood kris (keris) sword with a hand-carved wooden handle that features an abstract anthropomorphic maskette along the interior curve below the pommel. The brass spacer bulb features granulated balls with 12% silver gilding that encircle the bulb. The steel blade has a gorgeous serpentine profile with sharpened edges, and a pointed tip. The top of the wooden sheath features a dramatically flared guard protector, and the interior wooden blade housing is protected by a brass jacket adorned with floral motifs. A handsome piece!
