Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A beautiful kris (also keris) with an abstract anthropomorphic wooden handle. The iron blade exhibits a gently oscillating profile with serpentine 'scales' formed from lighter nickel material, and above the pointed hand guard is an openwork silver spacer bulb inset with dozens of petite faceted white sapphires as well as clear and red glass. The wooden guard protector and brass blade housing are lined on the front with incredibly ornate 94% silver panels atop green felt and are inlaid with dozens of faceted clear glass cabochons.
