**First Time At Auction**
Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early 20th century CE. A personal ceremonial sword known as a kris (also keris) with an abstract anthropomorphic handle carved from stag horn. The forged-steel blade features a protruding hand guard and an oscillating profile, and above the shoulder is a gilt copper spacer bulb with several large and small glass cabochons. The wooden sheath has a large guard protector above the blade housing which is covered by a brass jacket with a panel of foliate motifs in repousse. Size (w/ sheath): 5.75" W x 19.5" H (14.6 cm x 49.5 cm); (blade): 15.125" L (38.4 cm)

Condition
Sheath jacket adhered onto blade housing and cannot be removed. Loosening to spacer disc and lower ringlet beneath handle as shown. Nicks to blade and handle, with losses to some inlaid glass cabochons, and encrustations on blade. Nice patina across blade and sheath jacket.
