Hand-coloured map of Ohio, from one of D.J. Lake's illustrated Ohio county atlases, pub. Titus &Simmons, Philadelphia throughout the 1870s. Paper approx 24" x 24". Highlights include the counties and individually labeled townships, many of which are in their original arrangements and names as laid out in the Northwest Territory in the late 18th century. Railroads, canals, post roads, county towns, villages, and post offices are also marked and labeled. It appears that atlases were issued for each county by this publisher; this fold-out map was likely in each edition; we have found dates given from 1871-1875.
