William Penn was one of the most important figures in the establishment and rise of religious freedom in the United States. After coming to Pennsylvania to advocate for freedoms, Penns work led to the growth of Quakerism in America. Because of his religious beliefs, Penn endured numerous bouts of persecution which inspired him to write works such as “Tender Counsel and Advice”, which taught about enduring for the sake of Christ.
This rare 1771 first edition of the works of William Penn was published in London and features a journal of his life collected and edited by John Fothergill.
