Description
This is without a doubt a very impressive and one of a kind presentation piece. This was given to Captain L.S. Wigley USN who was Commanding Officer of submarine repair ship in the Holy Loch, Scotland base. The engraved plaque on the front base says: Capt L.S. Wigley. USN, Commanding Officer, 11 Feb 1977 to 6 July 1979, From the Officers And Men Of The Worlds Greatest Tenders Main Battery, The Repair Department.
As shown in the photos, this large presentation piece is highly detailed with a large wood ships wheel and brass star in the center. In front of the wheel is a brass ship, the S32, and in front of that a submarine. Overall size is 16 inches wide, 11.75 inches deep, and 14 inches tall. It weighs 28 pounds. It appears that they may have been something glued to the top half of the wheel, which is not gone.
