Item Details

Description

This is a very impressive piece of memorabilia commemorating the launching of the USS Triton SSRN 586 on August 19, 1958. The model is made of brass and weighs a little over 6 pounds, measures 27.25 inches long. It appears that the model originally housed a photo or plaque at the top center. We have a photo showing a framed photo to illustrate this (photo not included). One side of the piece says General Dynamics Electric Boat Division Groton, Conn. The other side says USS Triton SSRN586 Launching August 19 1958. These were likely quite expensive originally with few made. Please refer to the detailed photos for overall condition.
