Item Details
Description
In 1908, National introduced a new numbering system that grouped their various designs into classes. This nickel plated brass register, assembled in 1914, is a model "313" from the 300 class and features the "dolphin pattern" design created by Tiffany. Due to the size and functionality of registers in this class, they became quite popular with businesses such as candy stores, cigar stands and barber shops. This example includes a slotted locking coin lid, for the safekeeping of gold coins (key missing), built into the drawer as well as a bill weight. SN 1426144. From the George Loveday Collection. Nickel plated brass. Original identification labels on underside of cash drawer. The "amount" keys and price indicator flags, along with the operation of the cash drawer, are in working order. Although the drawer is not original to this register (it's from a model 312 register returned to the factory for refurbishing in 1918), it's from the same class and as such, is interchangeable. This register would have originally been supplied with a "dolphin pattern" marquee. The marquee, or top sign, included with this register is a reproduction of the "Bohemian pattern". A reset key for the total adder mechanism, which records all cash transactions, is supplied, however, the adder can't be reset to zero as the cylinder is seized. The original 5 cent amount indicator (or flag) is missing and has been replaced with a crudely homemade version. A little light wear is evident in the nickel plating; most noticeable directly above the cash drawer front. American. 1914. 20.75" H x 10.25" W x 16" D. CODE-GEN
