Item Details
Description
American. Early 1900s. Nickel plate. The cash register was invented in 1870 by James Ritty. The device was invented to keep the employees of his saloon from stealing money from him. The company was so advanced, it made some of its resources available to code-breaking groups during WWII. Marked "National" on rear plate and till drawer plate. Marked "The National Cash Register Co. Dayton Ohio U.S.A." on plate below till drawer and on bill spike. 21" x 10" x 16". From a Private Quebec Collection.
Condition
Very good, complete condition. Polished nickel case. Till plate has been replaced. Tested and working. Retains both keys. Includes an original matching National Cash Register bill spike.
